According to the article, time is the way that the 3 dimensions (height, weight, and depth) are augmented in 4D. It describes time as the progression of events and existence from the past, through the present, and into the future. We, as humans, often manipulate, or control, time through medicines, exercise, and much more. There are several categories of time, including measured time, experienced time, running time, biological time, digital time, and many more. The article goes much more into depth with these descriptions.

Time and Age
Sabina Parmeggiani

I chose this artwork because I think it did a very good job showing time from a human perspective. Besides the hourglass symbolizing time running out, you can easily comprehend that this piece is about aging. This is meant to be the same person, even though it looks like two different people.

Sound is the vibration that can be perceived by the ear. It is used for speaking, singing, and musical expression. Sound is an integral part of communication in our world. Silence can also be used to amplify, or deafen sound. In some cases, sound can tell more of a story than photos. Sometimes there will be only sound, and no photos, just to convey a dramatic effect.

MOVEMENT

The shift/variation of an object, light, or sound. There are several categories of movement including: Successional, Oppositional and many more. Movement is used to draw your eye to different parts of a photo or video. This could be drawing it towards something, or away. In time based art, movement can be used as either participatory or observed.
