Project 1_Kaylee

Week 1
My idea for my project is to have it focused on either a box, or a clear jar of Band-aids. I want the entire feel of the project to be very somber, and sad. the first few shots of of a person typing on a laptop, I want them to be typing Band-aids maybe, but I have not fully decided on that yet. the project has a lot of cut ins that show the Band-aids, and other shots that allow the Band-aids to come into focus, with the last few shots showing what the person is typing on the laptop. I thought I could make the whole thing centered around PTSD awareness, because I enjoy art that has deeper meaning to it, and the Band-aids are a metaphor for healing.

Week 2
I started filming and editing parts of the video as I go along, as of right now I only have the first few seconds done, but the first few seconds are the part of the project that are most likely going to be the most difficult to edit. The person in the video is my roommate Melissa, she agreed to be in it (it also makes filming it way more convenient). I took a group of shots I took over her typing on my laptop, cut out the parts I do not want, and put them together into a few short shots of her typing. I also took a video I got of her typing "Band-aids". after that part I was going to put a shot of the Band-aid box, but I did not like the shot I got of it, so I am going to redo it when I get back to my dorm. even though I know audio is not important in this project, I did not like how the beginning felt without audio. I had some shots of Melissa typing really hard on my laptop (purposely typing very hard), and I really liked how the clicking on the keys sounded, so I took parts of those audio clips and put them over the clips of Melissa typing, which made it sound like the typing was more forced than it was (which is what I was going for).

(the shot of the Band-aid box is kind of blurry, so I am not using the shot)

Week 3

As of week three, the video portion of my project is completed, however there is no audio. I have a few audio clips of typing that I want to add over parts of the project, since the person in it is typing for quite a few parts of it. besides that I might try out how it sounds with some piano music from adobe stocks maybe, but I like how quiet the parts without typing are. I also might record more audio of me typing to put in the project, I have to play around with audio still.

the full video is just under 2 minutes long.

Week 4

Today I finished up adding audio to my video. After I finished the audio I rendered it, then exported it to my 4d foundations folder, then uploaded it to YouTube. I ended up using a lot of silence in my project, mostly because any music I could find did not sound right. I liked some parts of it having sound, like the parts were Melissa is opening the box, and opening the band-aid. I feel like those parts having sound put an emphasis on the band-aids, and not everything else around her. I'm very proud of how it turned out, and I'm excited to show it in class!
